Field Trip

Tomorrow we are taking the students on a field trip. We are going to go see the play The Emperors New Clothes.

I HATE going on field trips! I hate organizing the kids and parents. I hate collecting money and permission slips. I hate trying to round up parents to go on the trip. I hate riding the awful, bumpy, noisy, yellow school bus.

Now I know all of the benefits of a field trip. I know that field trips are especially beneficial for my students because they are given an opportunity that they may not get anywhere else.

I guess that the real problem is that I don't like being responsible for 20 little bodies. SO much can go wrong. I don't like that burden on my shoulders.

Field trips...UGH!

Wish me luck. :-)

Despite all the hassels, I hope you and the kids had a good time.

I hope you guys had a good time. As a parent field-trip volunteer last fall, I rode the bus with forty first-graders plus teachers and other chaperones. I couldn't hear a thing, it was so loud. My son and a friend were wacking each other with seat belts and I couldn't get them to stop. Quite the trip.

Now you can read your kids a modern-day of The Emperor's New Clothes called The Principal's New Clothes, by Stephanie Calmenson. They will totally get it. Fun book.

The field trip was just fine. I will post about it tonight!
