iPod vs. CD's

I am considering taking my iPod to school to use there permanently. I have had so many problems in the past few years with orgainzing all of my CD's or having them skip. I also have CD player problems. The machines that the school buys don't seem to last very long.

My thought is that I could bring in my iPOd and load all of the CD's that I need for work on there. I wouldn't have to worry about finding CD's, they would all be there.

This if course means that I would need to get a new iPod for myself. :-)

If you are a teacher reading this post, what do you do???

I use my ipod in the classroom on a daily basis. I mostly use it as a Rick Morris like transition tool. Anywho, I take mine to and from school everyday. I thought about getting another one to replace this "educational" one but nah I'll just wait till it breaks. Oh, and I don't leave it at school because the custodians are very untrustworthy. Teachers have lost food, electronics and even money. I would hope this only happens at my school where the custodians are immune from the pinkslip because they are related to school board members. Tsk, tsk.

I was thinking about doing that but I too am afraid that I will leave it at school and it might get stolen.

I was thinking of putting all of the textbook CD's on it in addition to the holiday music and background "quiet work music."

I guess that with the budget crisis that we are in I won't be able to put a P.O. in for one!

I would iPod it. I use my iPod sometimes, too.

What do you use for "quiet work music?"

The music I use depends on what we are doing. If it is deep concentration, I usually have classical music on, mostly violin. Why? I don't know. It just seems soothing. I play other music too like Enya, jazz and Jack Johnson.

I copied all of my school audio-files onto a flash drive, and then saved them onto my computer at school. We listen to music/audio-books in iTunes.

If I want the students to be able to choose from a few different audio books to listen to, I make a playlist and they know how to change the track to be the book they want to listen to.

The computer speakers work well enough that everyone can hear the music/book as long as they aren't making too much noise. (And they know that if they can't hear the music/book, it's because they are being too loud.)

I didn't think about a flash drive. That is an idea for me for the meantime...

while i do not have a classroom, i did play music at the store. and i got tired with keeping up with cd's. i don't have an ipod so i played music from a pc there and created long playlists on itunes and got a pretty inexpensive rhapsody subscription that allows access to their complete music database.
