Crockpot Thunder Cake

I have been asked to post the Thunder Cake recipe. I would like to give credit to the chef who created this recipe but I don't remember who it was. It was definitely from an online source. When I figure it out, I will credit the chef.

Crock Pot Thunder Cake:
1 package chocolate cake mix (a no pudding added one)
8 oz. sour cream
1 ½ cups chocolate chips
1 cup water
4 beaten eggs
¾ cup oil
1 small box of chocolate pudding

Directions:
Mix ingredients together in a bowl. Pour into a crockpot and cook on high for about 2 1/2 hours. Don't let it burn! Use a large spoon to take out. Put on paper plates. Top with whipped cream.

Are you supposed to use "cook and serve" pudding, or "instant"? Or does it not matter? I would think cook and serve, being that its slow-cooking for several hours. But I want to make this for my class, so I need to follow it to a tee! Thanks (in advance) so much for your help! :-)

This cake is so moist and super easy to make! It has been a big hit each time I have made it! I love this recipe, thanks for sharing it! Oh and be sure to use the instant pudding mix I used the regular kind once and it took a lot longer (almost 5 hours) to cook all the way!

I have used this recipe a few times when reading Thundercake with my 2nd graders! It is very easy...easier than the one in the book. It is the perfect amount for a class of 24!
