Test Anxiety

We are on day 2 of state testing and so far have had three "throw up" incidents. The kids are so stressed out that they are responding physically.

Have you ever wondered about what happens to a test that has been vomited on? You can't throw it away! The test has to be bagged up and returned to the state! Before that though, our lucky test coordinator (vp) has to transfer the bubbled in items to a new test document. I am so glad that I do not have that job!

Crazy!

That's ridiculous. I feel so bad for your kiddos.

Our 8th grade kiddos are freaking out because they can't go on to high school unless they pass a math, reading, science, and social studies test.

It is awful. The kids were not from my class, just at the same site. Thank goodness because if it happened in my room, I would throw up too!

That's what Admin do...

So far, no one has thrown up, sneezed up mucos... : )

Oh my God! That's awful! I used to teach in a state where the kids had to pass a test to get a high school diploma. I wish the tests got to be sent back with the vomit! Just to make the point, you know!

Gross! I had no clue there was any standard protocol for what happens to a vomited on exam. Poor kids. Talk about high stakes testing...

Question, who do the students know the exams are so important?

Cindy: I think that the kids who stress out so much over the tests are kids who have teachers who make a huge deal out of it.

I don't do that because I think that the test is ridiculous and doesn't even come close to measuring what they know. I ask them to do their best but also try to relax them as much as possible.
